By now you’ll no doubt be aware that extremely sensitive material from anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive The Last of Us: Part II has leaked online. While the title has received a new release date today, the news has been overshadowed by the tidal wave of spoilers being shared on social media. It’s made interacting with the release almost impossible.
Nevertheless, crushed director Neil Druckmann took to Twitter to share a short message with fans: “Heartbroken for the team. Heartbroken for our fans. We’re still incredibly excited to get the game into your hands.” Naughty Dog shared a similarly brief statement, urging its followers not to spoil the release for others. “No matter what you see and hear,” it said, “the final experience will be worth it.”
Of course, that hasn’t stopped many from already drawing conclusions from the out-of-context scenes. The good news is that the title at least has a release date now: 19th June. It was originally due out in February, before being pushed back to May. Let’s hope there are no more leaks as we march closer to the title’s summer launch date.

Well, if the work culture was normal this would not have happend. Jason schreier had reported on the toxic work place multiple times. That and the story is just dumpster fire. If the story was any good the outrage and damage control would not have happended.
This will surely be my game of the year! I'm sure it will be amazing and I hope that no one spoils it to me or I could become a murderer ahah
Sony will be welI within their rights to sue the guy from here to kingdom come. And I will not have any sympathy for them. It's one thing to be disgruntled it's another when you potentially spoil years of hard work from their colleagues as well as spoiling the game for many people. They've cut off the nose to spite the face, simple as that.
I also wonder if the hate generated online comes from people who look at it like "a lesbian female protagonist? This game is woke" it's like people forgot about what happened in the first game.
I am not reading of viewing any content related to TLOU2
I want to play the game with an open mind. Can't wait.
@Sanquine I guess it’s true in the sense that if the environment was better for the workers, a disgruntled employee would be less likely to leak the information. I can see why you’d be annoyed about a story though, I was the same with FF7 but I’m going to persevere and see if it’s better in context.
@Sanquine You're making a lot of accusations about circumstances you know nothing about. Impressive that you've played and already finished the full game, though — I'm sure you wouldn't conclude the plot is a "dumpster fire" based on some leaked clips, after all.
This is crazy.the 👻 ghost and last of us along with streets of rage 4. is what i been looking for.word up son
@get2sammyb well, I mean those leaked clips have shown some major plot points to be fair. Not the full game, but enough for some people to decide if they like where it's going or not.
@AdamNovice
There's people who hate on games for lots of reasons these days. The games that have fanservice because people don't like 'sexualized' content. People who hate the evil white straight male. You're not going to please everybody. I think it's more some people just can't stand how obnoxious Druckmann is with his politics. One of those 'if you don't think exactly like me you can go to hell' type people. And the stories of poor work place culture don't help (would some day like to get the full story on Hennig's departure over creative differences). I'll still play the games Naughty Dog makes because I've liked most of them but I can see where others who don't like them are coming from.
@get2sammyb
Those are some major spoilers that give a good part of the story away. If it's an indication of how things are going to play out, it's not unfair to be concerned where the story is headed. But I know, around here never question anything Sony or its first party teams do. Especially Naughty Dog.
@Orpheus79V Yes, but there's no context to any of it at all.
@Gamer83 We just gave a Sony published game a 4/10.
I feel bad for the employees who worked so hard on this that might not get the bonuses they would have gotten if it wasnt leaked.
I just hope sales figures arent hurt too much because of this.
@Orpheus79V Still though the game is said to be around 25 hours so there's an awful lot of context missing behind many character's backgrounds and motivations.
@Gamer83. So some people dont like druckmann of naughty dog.they dont like ubisoft.konami.activision.square enix.warner brothers.etc.😒.them people needs a new hobbies and stop playing video games.thats a fact black.word up son
@Sanquine absolute rubbish. The type of people who feel the need to ruin games for others don’t have any other motivation that “look at me, please give me clicks”. Blaming crunch culture for leaks is like blaming Covid -19 on My Little Pony.
@playstation1995 Preach!
This guy gets no sympathy with me after what he did to Amy Hennig
Had a long chat with my son about it all and story wise lou2 sounds awful...still taking the leaks with a pinch of salt though
@SimonB Can I arrange an interview with you? You were clearly working at Naughty Dog when Amy Hennig left and know all the intricate details about her departure.
@playstation1995
No, they just need to play games from companies they do like.
@get2sammyb To be fair, non-disparagement clauses are pretty dodgy but given that it went both ways, Hennig against ND and ND against Hennig, it leads you to believe that there was bad blood on both sides. It’s clearly not as simple as saying Druckmann was in the wrong.
@gamer83 Again with this myth that you can't question Sony or whatever on here. Personally I think PS have been very lenient in the past year with certain people but more often then not anyone having a go are usually ones who do so without much thought behind their arguments.
@Netret0120 Let's be candid: probably 95% of the people who will end up playing this don't know or care about the leaks, and the outraged fans are a vocal minority.
If this has any effect on sales, it'll increase them.
@get2sammyb
A game everybody knew was going to be a turd. That's not so much a criticism. When it comes to things like policies or work place culture you guys will always side with Sony. There's been more than enough stories out there about Naughty Dog that it's foolish to write off anything negative about it, but that's exactly what you all do. Guy writes a story about 'toxic' culture at Rockstar, everybody here piles on 'well, obviously, just look at GTA, horrible company to work for.' Same guy (a fake woke pencil neck geek who wrote for one of the most garbage gaming websites out there) writes an article some of the seedier stuff going on at Naughty Dog and everybody here is all 'no way.' It's just like when Amy Hennig was given the boot, had to be her that was the problem couldn't possibly the wonderful and perfect Neil Druckmann or other people at the studio who all have the same politics and want to push the same message.
Somehow I seem to have avoided all of these spoilers but in reality it wouldn't stop me playing the game anyway. I really enjoyed the original and its dlc was exceptional in its storytelling so I'd expect this to be a great game if it builds upon those mechanics.
@AdamNovice I hope not. TLOU as a franchise deserves better than that.
If you actually read the last of Schrier's reports, it was clear that ND are very open in their job interviews about what people are signing up to and what will be expected of them if they take a job with the company.
For me, that put a whole different spin on the thing... not that I was overly sympathetic in the first place.
As I've said before, anyone who has ever worked a job where deadlines are involved will know all about 'crunch', and most of those people will have it recurrently every few weeks, year round... not just for a few months every 3 to 5 years.
Whoever leaked it, if an employee former or current, has also most likely just killed their career. And no matter how much they may hate the company, it beggars belief that they would be so keen to f*ck over adoring fans of their work - and by 'their' I mean the individual themself, as well as the colleagues who have put in so much effort. A real d*ck move by any measure.
@playstation1995 Konami deserves it though 😉. They were legends in the 90's and 2000's but look at their recent releases (when they remember they're a video game developer)
Why is everyone talking about a disgruntled employee that spoiled the plot? From what I've seen the clips included Portugese and German subtitles, which probably means that the leaks come from a different studio that handles the translations. Anyway I do feel bad for All the ND employees. All that build wasted!
I am looking forward to playing this game, and I plan to make sure I don’t get anything spoiled in the meantime.
I obviously don’t know if the game will be good (I like most everything from ND, including TLOU, so I am optimistic). I know some don’t like the company, and there are always concerns about crunch and work place culture (in gaming and other industries too).
But, all that aside, the thing I am sad about today is the many people who will now not have the chance to discover this game without spoilers. I am also sad that the team who worked so hard to make this game has this shadow on their hard work.
Whatever anyone thinks of ND or the first game, this is just a bummer for a lot of people: gamers and developers who put in a lot Into this. I hate that, especially at a time when we could all use some good news.
I will be playing this on release day, and I am really looking forward to it.
Welp that what happens when you hold on to a game for too long
@teknium_
I'd still say buy the game if you're at all interested. I've watched the videos where people discuss the leaked cutscenes and if it's all stuff that's actually in the game I could see myself being disappointed with how the story goes. But in fairness, have to play the game to get context because not everything has leaked out although we still have a lot of time before release and Sony clearly doesn't have this situation under control like it should.
@XFsWorld So what's the alternative? Release a broken bug riddled game?
@Gamer83 Did you actually non-ironically call Schreier a ‘pencil neck geek’ lol. Are you Mr Burns?
@playstation1995 You still can be critical towards the practices of the studios/publishers and still enjoy the medium for what it is! But yeah being negative all the time gets old very fast.
Being upset having unwanted spoilers I get it.
What I dont get is people upset about what they think the story is from out of context videos.
I dont see anything shocking at all I dont get it.
All is fitting to what was announced and it's too bad if people got wild speculations they thought was facts. Also if a character says something it doesnt make it fact.
@nessisonett
Yeah, I'm not a fan of most of his work but he has written some articles about the hell developers have to go through that I find interesting especially since I've had some friends who have tried their hand at the industry with varying degrees of success. And I find it more interesting that people will cheerlead it when he writes about studios they have disdain for then question it when it comes to a studio they love.
I am trying to avoid all spoilers as much as possible. I definitely want to experience the full game for myself. I pre-ordered the collector's edition back in September. I have never pre-ordered a game that early before.
I thought Amy Hennig left Naught Dog to work at EA on a Star Wars game that never made it very far, far away.
@Gamer83 The guy’s one of the most prominent supporters of unionising workers in the video game industry and hugely in favour of workers’ rights. He does extremely important work that shouldn’t be judged on a studio by studio basis, but instead looked at as one of the few positives in a system completely rigged against your grassroots programmer.
I believe that in this day and age some effort should be put into 'controlled leaks' or 'alternative endings' in the vein of what they did with GoT - deliberately spread untrue/incompatible 'spoilers' to confuse everyone. Ideally, none would happen but as soon as content leaves the studio it is vulnerable, whether we like it or not. You are giving away your precious work to someone, keeping your fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Yeah...
90% of leaks are controlled leaks anyway (in my opinion), everyone knows that this beast needs to feed.
@Paranoimia
Yes totally agree.
People crying about the poor work condition blah blah are being hypocrites. The person who leaked these has no excuse whatsoever.
Very unfortunate situation. Must be very tough for the developers, as well as the fans who are having the game spoiled.
I worked on an IT project, not video game but complex enough - 'crunch' does not begin to describe what goes on when you are approaching the deadline, and the lead up to it isn't exactly a walk in the park. People are left broken, I've seen it many times while others thrive (albeit still exhausted and fragile, lol), you don't really know you are cut out to do this until you try. I wouldn't hold it against the studio to be working in this way, quality x complexity of the output demands it. It really does.
@get2sammyb Yeah sure I'll give you a quick one, on how he screwed over and pushed out one of the best writers and directors in gaming for wrong think.
@XFsWorld
Well, I was seeing stuff on Twitter from people who scour the Resetera forums that suggested Naughty Dog was 'struggling' to get the game running on a base PS4. Obviously that's just rumors but Reset has some people in the know who post there and if there was any truth to it at all, the game has to be delayed. This is where I feel bad for anybody involved in programming games. You're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Release the game 'on time' and it needs a big patch or multiple patches to fix bugs, you're screwed. Delay the game to have it running fine on day one, you get cursed at on every social media platform for being slow. It's unfortunate this leads to a higher chance of leaks happening, but that's the reality, and for the most part, companies have been pretty good at controlling the leaks this gen but it seems like Naughty Dog is always caught up in something which makes this par for the course.
@nessisonett
Like I said, I don't like most of his work, and I'm not going to apologize for that, stuff like his article about the artwork in Dragon's Crown, which imo simply boils down to 'no fun allowed' when he could just ignore those games because they don't harm anybody, ticks me off. That said, I agree, his work exposing what the 'grunts,' for lack of a better term, have to go through is hugely important, he should be applauded for that. And those types of articles shouldn't be judged on a studio-by-studio basis but I've seen people do that and I'm not just talking about on any one website. Hope that gives context to where I'm coming from. We probably disagree on a lot concerning this guy's articles but I don't want to see him stop reporting because when he does get something right, he gets it really right. It's just that it's two extremes with him.
There's always something with this game. Almost feels cursed lol.
It will still sell millions of copies and I'll be getting it day one.
Someone dropped some RDR2 spoilers to me via a direct email send through another site. Told me the fates of several characters including the protagonist. I'd only had the game a few days!
It sucked but however many tens of hours later I finished the main story but still loved every second. I'm hoping that I manage to avoid spoilers before eventually playing the Last of Us 2 but if not then so be it. Some people out there just like to try and ruin everybody else's fun but don't let them get you down. Sometimes it's not about the final destination but the actual journey that takes you there.
Looking forward to experiencing it.
Zero interest in the game now. Grateful for the leaks as they saved me cash. The writing was on the wall when Druckman started praising Sarkeesian. Shame
@carlos82. Yes but if konami make a amazing game people will buy it.some people will say i will never buy a konami game.but if its good they will buy it.if silent hills is good people will buy it.loik at star wars falken order.before that game a lot of people even on this site says they would not buy a ea game.but when star wars is good people bouht it.wtf.if the game is good i will buy i will buy it.dont care what company it is.im a real gamer.word up son
@Gamer83 I see you are always extremely negative towards Sony its like you have a personal issue with them.
@Flaming_Kaiser
Yup, Sony does a lot of stuff I disagree with. It's not a personal issue, when a company does stuff I disagree with I'll say it.
@playstation1995
If we get a good Silent Hill game that means a miracle happened, Sony got the publishing rights for a reboot or remake and put Project Siren to work. And hell yeah, I'd buy it.
If you spoil a game or tell the ending of a game you are really sad. But you see a lot of these people around i always think what kind of sad life you have if you have to ruin stuff for others.
@Flaming_Kaiser Hmm Sounds Suspicious Maybe He's The One That Leaked The Game 😋
@Gamer83 If you have such massive issues with a company why do you even come to a Sony site? Is it some way to get attention? Or are you a massive MS fanboy?
@Flaming_Kaiser
Because I game mostly on PlayStation? Not that I owe you any explanation. You realize the ignore button exists right? I mean, if my comments bother you that much, PushSquare puts all the right tools in place for you to use.
@get2sammyb What does Neil Druckmann's backside smell like mate? I'm genuinely curious.
You seem to be shutting off anyone's opinion and acting like they don't know what they're talking about, when we could quite easily say the exact same to you.
@DonJorginho Funny seeing someone with those accusations and that avatar. 😆
People are so easily influenced. It's sad. The leak is obviously aiming to show the game in a unflattering way. Makes me think it's all part of the FUD about playstation lately.
@Areus I dont think he is just a guy with some issues towards Sony. But he gave me a great tip i totally forgot about the ignore option.
@Areus
Yup, you caught me, I'll confess to Sony and Naughty Dog right away.
@Flaming_Kaiser So I can't use a funny picture as my avatar? Huh funny that, never knew you were so high and mighty.
I have read the leaks and the story is awful what an insult to fans of the first. I can't believe they actually thought people would enjoy this story they could have done a million different things all of which would have been better
@AdamNovice The game been finished
Do i miss something? I watch some of the leaks videos, and there's only one spoiler; the continuation of the "ambush scene" from the trailer.
Do they leak any other info on the Story?
Should have released it in February and this wouldnt have happened. 🤷♂️
I'm probably one of the few that couldn't get into the first game. God I tried to, I think I started a new game 4 times and always left off after the school boss fight. The game just never got it's hooks into me. It's a quality game for sure I guess I'm just an odd one. As for the LOU2 I'm excited but I'll probably wait for major price drop or the eventual PlayStation 5 release.
@XFsWorld Yeah and it was delayed so it can be finished.
@DonJorginho Maybe because he's fed up of some people's vitriol, and he's not the only one either.
This guy better get a good lawyer
Neil Druckman is human garbage, who cares how he feels? Nobody should remotely consider buying this pathetic excuse of a game
can we all agree on one thing?
that thing being that even if the story sucks ass, at least the game play and visuals will be great?
cause I'll tell you it's very, very rare that I enjoy a game's game play over it's story and that's how I feel about the first LoU, its a decent story with decent characters but as ive said before here on PS, I hate the game's ending and for a while hated the game feeling it dumps all over the experience, upon my replay I realized I still hate the ending but loved everything else about the game, mainly the gameplay, it was so fun and immersive for me that I said to myself "you know what? even a bad a story cant ruin the fun I'm having right now"
and that's why I just can't not play this sequel, and I'll tell you I hate woke storytelling and tired of cults in stories in media cause they're all the same, Remember the RIPers from DAYS GONE? That's was a cool and unqiue take on cults in the apocalypse! anyway going back to my main point, I've seen the leaks and know I probably wont enjoy the story but the gameplay we've seen so far looks too fun to say no for me. but I understand why people are so turned off they wont play it going off the leaks and thats fair but at this point, I have to play it for myself. sorry for the novel lol ^_^U
@get2sammyb That's a strange point of view, since that hasn't stopped you from taking a stance.
Everyone here seems to forgetting the most important thing; this leak is detrimental to the gamers. Anyone who would leak information is despicable, anyone who chooses to partake in said information should be quiet, but most importantly, the gamers themselves should actively shutdown these leakers. You'll take to review bombing, you'll line up for anti-consumer releases like FF7R, but you won't ignore this? Media sites are posting about it, stop. Message boards are going on about it and their own misinterpreted opinion of allegations, stop. You're all supposed to be gamers, and you're acting like children. Stop trying to ruin something millions have been patient for, and stop trying to blacklist a developer when you'll line up for a Rockstar game or own FF7R. Be better than this.
@MBII Good job I put my preorder in today.
Gotta say I didn't see the leaks but IF it was released when it was supposed to. I would have bought it. Now it sounds as if mt original fears were true and I'll stand very clear. So that greed button that was hit you know the one.....logistics may have bit Sony in the butt.
@AdamNovice So you agree that just because someone is a staff member that they can just walk all over people's personal opinions, and be all sarcastic and childish with their replies?
Have it your own way, have fun when you play this game for yourself and get all upset by the narrative choices, let's see how much vitriol comes out of you then.
It saddens me that we are in 2020 yet we aren't allowed to criticize something as it's a Sony First Party Title made by Naughty Dog.
Everyone with any opinion against this game, even if it comes from a place of love for the legacy of the first game and the developer, gets bombarded with sassy and aggressive replies, and even in some cases get childish call outs from the staff themselves.
As long as they aren't abusive, using vulgar language or spoiling the game, I don't see why they're being treated this way.
I have seen hours of leaked footage now and I'll say that the gameplay looks FANTASTIC, the visuals and atmosphere are next to none and top any game this gen with it's cinematic aspects.
What I won't say is of the same standard is the story, and not because of any gender inclusion as I admire that and welcome it fully, I mean the actual narrative choices taken by Neil Druckmann.
They come off as bad fan fiction and as if he just wanted to shock fans for the sake of it, as if it makes him a better writer or something.
The dialogue is top notch from what I've seen, and the acting is still great, just the actual story beats lack that aura that previous ND titles had.
This is why Druckmann always soars when he has someone holding down his wilder side in Bruce Straley, similar to how Kojima was held back for the good of the consumer with some MGS plots.
I am going to buy this game, as I'm not immature to lose all my love for a game due to a horrific story, as I know I'll enjoy and adore other aspects of it.
I just hope people take Troy Baker's advice and KEEP AN OPEN MIND as damn this game takes some sharp left turns.
And the edgelords are back in force on this comment thread too! Seems they can't resist letting us know (for the 50th time) how they feel about the overated Naughty Dog or "woke" Neil Druckmann. Thanks dudes, we appreciate you bringing balance and elucidation to the sheeple. Doin the lord's work!
@Gamer83 I Knew It! Will You Put Down The Controller And Come Quietly Or Do We Have To Settled This Like Gamers 😋
@OMG_Waffles I can’t stand Naughty Dog games tbh. Not saying they are bad but not for me. Feels like I’m playing something so on-rails there is barely any actual gameplay.
@Sanquine There are no excuse for the lack of professionalism on the part of the alleged leaker. Not like the rest of the industry is having a better time. They are known for long working hours, stress and tight schedules. For personal satisfaction, his action is adversely affecting the effort of his colleagues.
@get2sammyb No i have not played it. Did you? I did watch like 7 video's with major plot points. I just dont like where things are going and i can voice my opinion, right? Or am i not allowrd by the Sony defence force?!
@Areus
I don't enjoy multiplayer games. I've sent all the e-mails to Sony on how I obtained these videos and will turn myself over to the authorities tomorrow.
@JJ2 @get2sammyb I wil voice my concerns as i think Playstation is going the wrong direction. After Herman Hulst took over we are getting PC releases or leaks. And everyone wonders why i am mad about Tlou2 is not the LeSbiAnz no its something you love is being destroyed. I wist i could tell but i will not spoil it for others.
I don’t feel sorry for naughty dog. 🤣
For those of you who are defending this moron, first of he doesn't have to work there, there's places that have a goal in small amount of times it happens in almost every job and you know what the rest us do? Suck it up, snow flakes like these don't like the crunch then move on to the next company or change careers it's that simple. Another thing is hey you're disgruntled handle it like a f***ing grown up, this is some immature s***, whether you like the plot or not this is some immature s***, hope Sony has a field trip with this dirt bag and if you defend these practices because of crunch you're a dirt bag your self.
@Sanquine
Imagine before Days Gone release I leak some out of context footage implying a lot of plot twist? .
Yea right. I could easily make it look bad, and I love the story.
Just wait for the game to launch 🤷♂️
This is just sad!
I'm sad because I don't want the game to be spoiled but now my friends, worksmates and god knows who is talking about major story beats and I don't know how I am supposed to avoid it all until 19 june !
I feel sad for the rest of the workstaff at Naughty Dog that would get great bonuses IF the game sells well, but that feels like 50/50 chance at the moment
I feel sad reading "whaa whaa"-posts against Druckmann from the same usual people here on Pushsquare every day, pushing their anti-Druckmann crap propaganda over and over again, and when the rest of us here don't want to hear their "whaa whaa" crying they lash out like a 5 year old call the rest of us "Sony defence force" or lame crap like that. (Maybe we just don't want to hear your rants over and over?! Ever thought of that ??)
But mostly it saddens me, that an industry generating more money then the entire movieindustry is sabotaged from insiders like the "leaker" and people like "Gamer83" "Sanquine" "DonJorginho" and so on actually uses this time to attack Sony for personal gains, instead of helping the community to get everyone to stop this leaks in the first place. If you have problems with Sony , Hulst or Druckmann, mail them and sort it out. I don't want to read your brainless thoughts here over and over again. This is a gaming site, not a personal hatesite for lowlifes like yourselves.
Sad times indeed.
Sorry for rant, Game on and Stay safe !!
Bleargh.
Dont confuse a leak with crunch culture. How does this help crunch culture?
Also, for goodness sakes, don't judge a game without playing it. It is such a worthless endeavour. If I read the synopsis for the first 10 minutes of TLOU (pt1) I would have thought it very cliched and boring. Playing it was very different though. I even think God of War would not make sense without context.
The game might suck, the story might suck, or it might be really good. Wait and play. Or don't. That is also your right.
Plus, PushSquare is a very fair site and will give its own opinion regardless of whether it is Sony or popular.
@Zeke68 Yeah, sabotaged.... Echo chambers is what the world needs. Lowlifes lol GTFO to your basement if you cannot handle any critism. I am a Sony fan since PS1 and if i want to voice my concern i will do it!
Voice your concern in the right channels then ? Who is going to change anything through Pushsquares commentfield?
And my basement, Yes, I can go there, thats my 7.2 homecinema "mancave", I have no problem whatsoever spending time there watching great movies or playing games as they are meant to be experienced
I can handle critism, I just can't handle non related hatred against people that are never ever present here. You might take your personal stuff and contact Sony, Naughty Dog etc..
Noone here cares, apart from a few trolls.
@Zeke68 @ me next time manchild
@Lefty Please watch the language!
@Arnna
I totally get that. I really enjoyed Uncharted 2 and 4. Couldn't get into 1 or 3. There definitely not for everyone but no game truly is. I'm more of a RPG kind of gamer anyhow. Give me stats, stats some skill trees and more skill trees and I'm good!
I just laugh at how hard some of these people desperately try to get their point across and hope that everybody agrees,You'd be moron to be put off by leaks, and even bigger moron to get triggered by the themes that games go into, if you don't like it keep it to yourself, but you can't because you ass clowns need that sense of achievement in letting everybody know how much you despise a game..
Ubisoft are still to this day getting hate from Assassin's creed Unity, since then they have released Odyssey which sold like hot cakes yet they will still tell you it's a dying company...
Last Of Us 2 will sell like hot cakes, and these fools saying they won't be buying it...we all know they will, Xbox fanboys are having a field day right now.
Naughty Dog hasn't disappointed with any of their games and i doubt they will with this...
I have seen some leaks and i have unfortunately fallen victim to the retards posting images...but my hype still remains and their attempts fail with me, i'm going to enjoy June 19th and then enjoy July 17th...while they will spend the next month trying to make their little brains feel better...
I already know some of these trolls are Xbox fanboys because they don't do a good job of hiding it, all it takes is going to their pages...so the motive is clear as day why they do it..
@gifted_indie And others have their right to disagree with your opinion, and if you block them for that then you are a stereotypical douche.....just saying.
You believe the leaker should be applauded, that's fair, it's your're opinion, i believe he should be sued so bad that he won't ever recover from it, there are ways to do things...this was not the way, the leaker is a stupid prick who spat in the faces of every colleague he worked with at Naughty dog, who actually wanted to see their work experienced the way it should.
@Gamer83 Having seen all the spoilers, the sexualised scenes should be the least of anyone's worries. Druckmann, in my opinion went too far and did it all wrong in trying to 'change everything you thought about the game'.
The story polarises rather than presenting the player with alternate views. it is this polarisation that is jarring to the player. Druckmann et al screwed up big time. You might have been able to get away with it as a TV series where the viewer is more of a passive observer. You can't just apply the same narrative POV twists in a game where you actually play as one or more characters. Itjust doesn't work
@nathanSF
I still have to play the game. I need to see the story play out in its full context before being able to decide if they really screwed up. I don't like the direction (based off what I've read) but when playing the game it might all make sense and work well.
@Zeke68
Oh too bad, you don't agree with my opinion. You don't know a damn thing about me so shut the hell up with whatever you think my 'motive' is. Don't like my comments? Like I've said to other people, hit the ignore button. If I wanted to seriously 'do harm' to the industry or your precious corporate mother Sony I sure wouldn't be doing it here.
Anyone not happy has been playing Forza to long on thier eggboxes.
How many people on hear played the last of us more than once and still really enjoyed it? I will try to avoid the leaks and enjoy number 2.... I do feel for the guys at ND. They been working on the game for years!
@Baz12345
Me and my friend fire up the game every now and then and make our own challenges, lets say "complete chapter xxx without dying" "complete chapter xxx without killing anyone" "-without using healing" and so on. After an evening we have a winner who gets free beer from the other next time we play The Last Of Us.
We usually lose pretty much 50/50 but it's fun to have a prize to fight for
If we get a little too drunk we play LoU MP and play really really bad hehe. Sorry to all who got their games dragged down by us
Whoever leaked this is clearly a very Naughty Doggo...
This isn't to do with the article but more the fact that everytime I go on an article from this site, there's always a writer from the site uptight or getting extremely defensive. That's the real dumpster fire 😂
Okay, I normally stay out of articles like this one, but I gonna dare to be stupid for once.
I cannot comment on the leak itself as I have not seen the contents, nor do I care to because whilst I found the TLOU 1 somewhat enjoyable, the ending really soured my opinion of the story and I am not interested enough in a sequel. I do personally think however that it is impossible to know the full story without playing the game, but at the same time, you don't necessarily need to eat the whole dinner to know the dinner is horrible. People have to choose whether what they have learned will put them off or not, or if they are willing to stick with it in the hopes it gets better.
Regarding the morality of whether it is right or wrong for the leaker to do what they did, I have no strong opinion; maybe disgruntled worker (if that is who leaked the game?) was disgruntled because Naughty Dog was indeed being naughty and mistreating employees. Maybe disgruntled worker was wrong because it was not fair to the other employees who may/may not have suffered who wanted the unveiling of the work to be in the planned manner they chose rather than a possible misinterpretation. It is impossible for me to know the truth. All I, or anyone else can do, is draw our own conclusions based on what we find out.
Now with that all being said, why is there so many comments calling others fanboys, morons, lowlifes, saying that "because you hold x opinion, y is clearly true"? It is fine to not see eye-to-eye on something but you don't need to insult everyone in doing so. Not to mention people saying they should or should not comment here. This is an article on a website that anyone can access, not some echo chamber; if we can't have different opinions then why bother trying to do anything, clearly we should just accept everything without question. No need for conversation, we already know what everyone else is going to think... how boring that would be.
Wow, I sound really preachy. Apologies if this upsets anyone, but I do stand by what I said.
I dare not look at the leaks but I have seen peoples reactions to them. What I don't get is that there are a lot of immature people out there saying ND are trying to push an agenda and unhappy with the story elements....
I mean where the trailers not clear enough on where the story was going along with including the cult group in several of the trailers. I just don't understand why people are so annoyed hence why im finding it so difficult not to look at these spoilers.
Guess what guys its the apocalypse do you really not think that cults would be generated in the South States of America of all places 20 plus years after an outbreak.
Personally I cannot wait for this game. The acting, the gameplay, the visuals is all going to be 2nd to none and if the story has a few blips along the way, guess what I wont care, do you think I enjoyed walking around for several hours in FF7 Remake? No I didn't but the game despite those flaws was still brilliant.
Sorry for the rant hope what I've typed correctly put my point across
@MS7000
"not some echo chamber; if we can't have different opinions then why bother trying to do anything, clearly we should just accept everything without question. No need for conversation, we already know what everyone else is going to think... how boring that would be."
Noone wants an echochamber (as far as I know) but do we really want a gaming site to be a breedingground for hate against specific industry profiles ? I worked for Sony (not playstation) for quite a few years on the serverside and Sony was the best employer I worked for so far in my life, but even if it would been a disaster I would never go here (or anywhere on the internet) to spread FUD about them, I would just take it up with them and move along to another work.
I'm just one of all who is tired of the haters who spam allover these gaming sites when we should be discussing game and news regarding to them, not workcondition we never ever get to know anything concrete about. That's just my own very personal view here of course. My point is, IF it's true it's something ND/Sony need to set straight asap, but also, IF it's true, why isn't hundreds of employees shouting it from the rooftops at this point?
On topic: I just hope Sony put up LoU Pt II on the PSN store again so I can preorder it once again since the last was cancelled and refunded.
@Zeke68 "Noone wants an echochamber (as far as I know) but do we really want a gaming site to be a breedingground for hate against specific industry profiles ?"
Agreed. But that's the thing; I don't think most, if not all of these comments are being hateful. I think they are saying what they say because ultimately, they do care about what they think is best whether that be for Sony, Naughty Dog, or even just the people who would of/will be playing the game when all is said and done. People will always have their misgivings with certain individuals and groups much to everyone's chagrin, but ultimately, I think every wants the same thing; which is a great game. The disagreement so far appears to primarily be based on the spoilers, whether the game is actually going to be great.
"I'm just one of all who is tired of the haters who spam allover these gaming sites when we should be discussing game and news regarding to them, not workcondition we never ever get to know anything concrete about."
I can get that. People who are clearly here for the intention of doing little more than burning everything don't offer anything to the discussion. It is also ultimately pointless to speculate about things we may not know the truth about, but it doesn't make it any less fun to speculate of course.
"My point is, IF it's true it's something ND/Sony need to set straight asap, but also, IF it's true, why isn't hundreds of employees shouting it from the rooftops at this point?"
Probably because they are still in a better position begrudgingly working in terrible conditions (assuming the rumours are true, they may very well not be) than they would be if they were blacklisted in the industry by such a prolific company as Naughty Dog where they wouldn't be able to work in the industry again. Some people will go through a lot for the sake of dreams. Now obviously Naughty Dog wouldn't be able to do much to all the employees if they all rebelled at once, but realistically it is unlikely that everyone rebelling would ever happen, I should point out that again it is all speculation on my part. With any luck, I will be very wrong in the grand scheme of things.
Thanks for the reply though. =)
First and foremost....not really sure why leaks and articles about them are so hot these days. If spoilers ruin things for you, that's your problem, and you're a moron. A spoiler shouldn't detract from your experience of anything, period. If it does, again, you are a moron.
Second of all.... I'm so sick of hearing about what these companies supposedly do to/for their workers during "crunch" time. I don't care if it is Rockstar or Naughty Dog. It's called having a job folks. Haven't had a single job where I wasn't made to work 60-80 hours a week or more for 6 months or more straight. That's called working, it's what you do. It is also called job security. Not to mention that these game developers aren't actually doing any real, physical labor. Don't like it? Move over for someone willing to take your spot, because you clearly don't deserve it.
As far as Amy Hennig goes, none of you neck beards know what happened, I don't know what happened, nobody does except the people involved in it and a quick Google search shows that none of that group have said anything about what actually happened....it is also none of your damn business. Not your job, not your employer, not your situation, none of your business.
Gamers get more and more pathetic with each passing year. It's disgusting how many of them live in echo chambers, believing what they want because their deranged mind decides it makes sense or some other neck beard on the Internet told them it's true, so it must be. You're giving gamers a bad name. Then you wonder why people like Anita Sarkeesian are able to make the waves they do. While she's a scam artist, you provide an environment rife with opportunity.
@DonJorginho I already know some of the things that happens and it sounds like it makes sense with what happened in the first game. Joel and Ellie did some terrible things so it makes sense that their would be serious consequences.
And no there won't be any vitriol from me because I respect what creators try to do or say with their work. People may not agree with it but it's Neil Druckmann's characters and it's his story to tell.
@AdamNovice I think for most of these people, if they did play the first game, they're probably
not bothered by that, and it's a bit of a strawman to suggest they just don't like it because of homophobia or whatever.
@Orpheus79V I agree that some won't like the way the story goes but there's no denying that many hate it because they feel it's pushing an agenda or pandering to certain demographics. But forget that it's consistent with the first game.
That leak saved me $60+ thank goodness. They just can't stop shoving personal political agendas up everyone's hind end and it's wrecking franchises. And maybe if Naughty Dog focused more on paying their developers instead of giving money to people like Anita Sarkeesian, this might not happen. This is what happens when you pull this kind of crap and cater to an audience that doesn't even play these games. Good job Neil Drunkman.
He wouldn't be heartbroken if the general reaction had been positive, but as everybody has reacted negatively to the SJW agenda, he is too sensitive to handle it.
@Gamer83 man, you are too wise and sensible for the internet. But in my book you just won it.
@M1359 good try, but I'm not going to do spoilers here. Go and see the leaks for yourself and then you'll understand.
I read the memes on Reddit regarding the spoiler but haven't read the actual spoiler myself. Suffice to say if most of the memes are on point. I am truly disappointed in the direction of the story. I will still buy and play it, but I think it's a bit ridiculous.
People crying about spoilers same as people crying about a lesbian in a game.
I don't think it matters that much for average consumer. Especially so for hardcore fans.
Had basically zero interest in this game as it was. Now that I know it's mostly a shoehorned sjw agenda in game form, I'll be staying far away from it. Only interested in Ghost of tsushima
I’m past the point of giving a damn.
If true, the garbage story of the sequel left me heartbroken. Thanks to the brave soul that shared the spoilers and saved me the price of the collectors edition!
Well the plot sucks and leaves actual fans of the game heartbroken, so good. Great actually.
I'm SJW and i think the plot and story of second game is an abomination. It's not a SJW thing. It's a terrible plot and director gone awry thing.
@AdamNovice @PSbest No it's because the story is total garbage. People grow attached to characters and don't want to have that attachment shat on by nothing more than a money grab.
@Baz12345 I played the first one 10+ times on ps3, ps4, ps4 pro. The story is what got me most. Sure the gameplay was fun too but the story was just excellent. If the leaks are true, the garbage story of the sequel isn't getting 1 playthrough from me. Seems like a money grab and they just wanted to shock people again. Well too bad it didnt work this time guys.
@Kafkaesque agreed, the guy is a hack. I honestly don't why people are excited for something he's behind
@Flaming_Kaiser who do people like you always assume when someone disagrees with something about Sony they are automatically MS fanboys?
@Thunderlips69 ^^^^^^
@M1359 He cant handle lesbians that the issue.
@Envy He praises everything MS does and whales on everything Sony. 😆
@AdamNovice They tried to survive whats terrible about that?
@Richardcranium It's because conservatives hate being told their ignorant (because it's true)
@PSbest and liberals always have to make every situation political because you all have an inferiority complex. It's ok little guy. Noone here knows about your baby penis syndrome.
Druckmann wasn't so heartbroken when he forced Amy Hennig out of the company. Naughty Dog got what they deserve with this leak for keeping a rat like Druckmann over someone who actually good at their job.
@Sanquine it sucks that the work culture was whatever it was; but the guy who leaked this hasn't helped his case at all from a legal standpoint. He will probably get sued and at the very least get bombarded with so many legal fees that he will have to set up a GoFundMe.
@Gamer83 How much was spoiled exactly? Would we still need to play the game in order to understand?
@Nepp67
It's pretty big spoilers for what seems like a good chunk of the story beat, but I don't think you can get the full context unless you play the game.
What's up with Americans being "heartbroken" over every little sh*t? That's a term I'd expect in a eulogy or a bad breakup, but c'mon. It's overused to achieve clickbait or generate outrage. Neil, it's not like people won't buy your game!
I just wish Amy would be back. Felt like less BS in her days.
@ED-big-bums absolutely agree.
@Gamer83 I think that's kind of a relief for me. I'm not gonna lie I got spoiled certain scenes which upsets me a lot but thinking back on that spoiled scene... I'm getting worried for the game.
Maybe treat your employees better and this wouldn't happen? I have no sympathy for ND and DEFINITELY not for Neil. It does suck for the other devs tho who have been working years on this. But when u treat people like trash expect to be treated like trash back
I've had to delete some absolutely terrible comments here. Please don't insult other users or members of staff.
This is the only warning!
@Nepp67
Yeah, I'm not overly enthused with what I've seen, but the game isn't officially out. To me judging it on out-of-context leaks would be like judging it based on a demo. I've liked every PS3 and 4 game Naughty Dog has made to this point so hopefully TLoU 2 keeps that going.
@AdamNovice You do know that the director of the Last of Us is a self proclaimed male feminist, right? So I'm sure the game will be plagued with political nonsense in an attempt to shove woke SJW propaganda down the throats of gamers. And if that's the case, no thanks.
@Flaming_Kaiser I can handle lesbians perfectly fine. I don't need to Pander to them either. And if you saw the leaks and see no problem with the flate of Jo then you are not a fan of the first game.
@Oscarjpc I what way is it pandering she is lesbian look you just cant handle it be honest. I have seen no leaks and i will want to keep it that way. And as a real fan i rather play the game then have some morons ruin it for me. 😆 👌
I'm actually grateful for the leak as I will no longer be buying the game.
I'm still disappointed as this will the 1st Naughty Dog game I'll be skipping on.
I feel bad for all the people who have worked hard on this project for the past 5 or 6 years I think it was. All that hard work just to have such a major leak that is pushing people to the point of not even wanting to play or purchase the game. I would be so disappointed as well. I will still be purchasing the game but honestly only when it drops down to like $20. Now that I know the story line, there's no way I could justify spending $70 on a game I know major plot twists on now.
the first game was such an amazingly beautiful experience that I beat it twice on PS3 when it first came out & then I beat it 2 more times on PS4. the game helped me cope through a rough time in my life when I lost my grandfather who raised me to leukemia. the last of us allowed me to escape into a gorgeous world that was bleek but had a glimmer of hope. it's unfortunate that it's been leaked but I know there's millions of people who were touched by the glorious story & those people would be hard pressed to let some leaks 'ruin' the experience awaiting them in the last of us part 2. happy gaming my friends 😎
@Netret0120 If they're relying solely on the gay and trans community for those sales, good luck to them. They are such a minority to begin with, one has to wonder just how many of them are avid gamers.
As for the rest of us, and speaking for myself as a straight male married to a straight female, I have viewed the leaked material and I felt very uncomfortable at how all of the females, even the straight ones, were portrayed as butch as possible so as to not offend any possible trans gamers.
I just wish Naughty Dog would stop for one minute and consider how they're offending just about everyone else by solely focusing on the gay and trans community. Well, at least I won't be wasting my money on this game so I'm grateful for the leaked material.
Just more SJWs nonsense. I hope the gay/trans community truly enjoys it as it will be of little interest to anyone else.
@FesterinKadaver I seriously have to wonder if Druckman even has a clue what a feminist is. And since when did being a feminist mean exclusively catering to the lesbian/trans agenda? Does this mean that straight females no longer count when it comes to feminist issues?
@Flaming_Kaiser Ah yes, lesbians. Women who can't handle or even bear the thought of being with a man unless they want a baby that they can then pretend is their own natural child. Frankly, this is what keeps psychiatrists in business.
@NomNom Do you buy and eat rotten food too despite being told it's well past its sell date?
@Tha_Likely_Lad Problem is that's just an excuse. We're not in an apocalypse now and we're having the SJWs shove their agenda down our throats wherever we turn.
What was great about the first game was its subtlety. Now we're getting hammered over the head with it because they were afraid to offend a very small minority. Their solution was to focus on solely them and cater to them at every turn and to just spit in the face of everyone else.
@Ralizah I wouldn't count on that.
@BradT mate I've sadly seen the spoilers now and I'm very very sad at the way the story is going. It's very poor indeed and I don't agree with how it's been written. Talk about killing a franchise. I want to give the benefit of the doubt though we may end up thinking it's fantastic anyway and wanting for more after the game finiahes, who knows but I'm not hopeful
@Flaming_Kaiser Then by your own admission, you are having an opinion on something you have not researched and know nothing about. Seems like the definition of moron to me. Isn't it moronic to dwell in forums and comment sections about the leaks when you don't want to get spoiled. Boy, you have the logic thinking of a toddler. If you don't know the fate of the main characters of the previous game and the perpetrator of such fate then you cannot understand my complaints or why I refer to them as pandering. Go send Drunkman a fan art drawing and stop reading comments.
@BradT
I don't think most male feminist do. The merely attempt to pander to that crowed hoping to get a few browny points or they are just plain idiotic.
Drukman lost all respect when making that dumb comment, as I knew that his games would most likely be influenced either by LGBTQ or feminist propaganda. I liked the first Last of Us, but I'm just think I'm going to pass on 2. I'll just watch a play through or something like that if I ever feel a need know what happened.
@BradT I do enjoy devouring the occasional priest of Arkay. Good meals are hard to come by sometimes, but we can't all be digging through coffins haha. Thank you for asking.
